Working with families

Barnardo’s helps all kinds of families to cope with a wide range of issues including poverty, abuse, and homelessness. We work with them to create a setting where children are nurtured and valued, where they can experience a sense of belonging.

We work with families like Jordans’s who had a disrupted and violent family life. Jordan and his brother have both been excluded from school and have been in trouble with the police. Jordan’s mother was at desperation point when she came to Barnardo’s. However through Barnardo’s parents’ group, Jordan’s parents were able to develop their parenting skills and Jordan worked with service leaders to steer him away from anti-social behaviour. Now Jordan and his brother are out of trouble and his parents have the support they need.

Why not read about some of the other areas in which we work with families.
