Operations Director - SallyAnn Kelly

Formerly the Operations Director, is now Acting Director of Barnardo's Scotland.
SallyAnn brings 20 years’ experience in Social Work settings, progressing through the ranks to Senior, Team Leader, Fieldwork Manager, Children and Families Manager, Senior Manager (Children and Families and Criminal Justice) and then to her current position with Barnardo’s. Working across a number of different Councils in Scotland has allowed SallyAnn to develop a broad perspective in relation to the different approaches to service delivery.
SallyAnn has thorough experience in developing assessment formats for workers in relation to child protection. She has extensive experience of Child Protection Case Conferences and Reviews. She has worked in senior management posts which have included responsibilities for children and families social work, substance misuse and criminal justice. In her most recent roles, SallyAnn has confidently taken on the full range of management tasks, having extensive knowledge and experience of all aspects of personnel management and financial management.
Jim Wallace - Acting Operations Director
Jim manages seven operational Assistant Directors across Scotland. His lead roles across the organisation in Scotland are Mental Health and Looked After and Accommodated Children. He currently heads the Vulnerable Users Task Group, set up to reduce incidences of harm to children and young people. The group will look at best practice and assess the best ways in which to support vulnerable service users, with a strong mental health strategy informed by Young Scotland in Mind, the voluntary sector forum for mental health and wellbeing. Jim is based in Aberdeen.
Scottish Assistant Directors:
There are seven Assistant Directors in Scotland taking responsibility for specific areas of work. This role involves supporting service managers across all Barnardo's Scotland services, ensuring they are delivering effective and quality services
Assistant Director Children's Services (ADCS)
Mary Glasgow
Mary has operational responsibility for the external management of Children’s Services in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and east, north and south Ayrshire. Mary has strategic lead responsibility for Child Protection and Safeguarding across Scotland and also leads on Family Support Practice Development. Mary is based in Glasgow.
Brian Houston
Brian has operational responsibility for the external managment of Children's Services in Glasgow and North Lanarkshire. Brian is based in Glasgow.
Irene McGugan
Irene has operational responsibility for services in Tayside. In addition to this work, Irene sits on a number of strategic groups within three local authorities and is Depute Chair of Integrated Children's Services in Dundee. Her lead role within the organisation is "complaints". Recent responsibilities included taking lead on the development of sexually harmful behaviour services in Scotland and taking forward the children's rights agenda within the organisation. Irene is based in Dundee.
Peter Nield
Peter has joint responsibility for effective planning and delivery of services across the east Region of Scotland alongside Debbie Noble. In that context, he has line management responsibility for a range of services in Fife, West Lothian, North Lanarkshire and Edinburgh. Peter also has lead responsibility for Disability across Scotland. Peter is based in Edinburgh.
Debbie Noble
Debbie has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's Services in Falkirk, Stirling, Clackmannanshire and Edinburgh. She has lead responsibility for areas of practice including Participation, Youth Offending and Sexually Harmful Behaviour. Debbie is based in Edinburgh.
Stephanie Stone
Stephanie has responsibility for the Fostering and Adoption services across Scotland. The focus of the Fostering & Adoption team is to listen to our customers' needs and try to develop Barnardo's Scotland services to meet those needs. Stephanie is based in Glasgow but travels between offices in Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee.
Lorna Mulholland
As Acting Assistant Director of Operations, Lorna has overall responsibility for operational services in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands. She has taken on the role of Acting AD for Jim Wallace, ensuring high standards of practice across the region for services that include throughcare & aftercare, youth justice, residential support, and mentoring.
