Building new homes for the local community
The planning for this programme began in 1997. In 2001, 72 new affordable homes were created on the site and in June 2010 we were granted planning permission for our new headquarters.
The current phase of residential homes on the site follows extensive public consultation and discussions with local residents which highlighted a number of suggested improvements to the scheme. Where possible these improvements were incorporated in the final plans.
In July 2011 we submitted our planning application to the London Borough of Redbridge and these revised plans, supported by local residents, were approved. In fact, our consultative approach to the planning process was commended by the London Borough of Redbridge.
This phase of the housing development will provide 144 new homes. These homes will range from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom detached family houses.
We started the work on this part of the scheme in June 2012. Further phases will follow including additional family home provision in Tanners Lane and the refurbishment of the Cottages facing the green.
