Barnardo’s Scotland offer another reason to volunteer with them: nationally accredited qualifications

Release Date: 27/11/2017

Barnardo’s Scotland now offers volunteers in their stores the opportunity to gain nationally accredited qualifications through a range of courses, ideal for people looking to develop or progress their careers and job seekers.

Launched on 15th November, volunteers in Barnardo’s store throughout Scotland can now choose from a range of Level 2 qualification courses. Popular choices include Mental Health Awareness, Understanding Autism, Customer Service Knowledge, Team Leading Knowledge and Principles of Business and Administration.

Volunteer Recruitment Manager for Barnardo’s Scotland, Billy Farrell, said:

We’re incredibly excited to be able to offer yet another great incentive to volunteer in our stores throughout Scotland! And there are already 30 learners signed up to the courses.

We simply could not run our stores without our amazing volunteers, so it’s great to be able to give them something in return for their selfless dedication. Funded through a partnership with West Scotland College, it means it’s a free and flexible way to gain a recognised qualification while making a real contribution to children and young people in your community.

Facilitated by AP4U and jointly delivered by West College Scotland and Learning Curve Group, the courses generally take 16 weeks to complete but learners are encouraged to work at their own pace. This offers a flexible learning opportunity as it is completed in one’s own time either instore or on-line with a dedicated 1-1 tutor on-hand.
