In honour of her grandmother who was raised in Barnardo’s care and spent most of her adult life fundraising for the charity, Rachel kicked off her own fundraising in aid of local children with a skydive.

Rachel said:

I was very close to my nanna growing up, she was an inspirational lady with a lot of love for Barnardo’s. I want to continue her legacy and what better way than to do as she did – raise money for children and young people in our community that need the vital support that Barnardo’s Scotland offers.

I chose to do a skydive as a way to kick start my fundraising for the charity as I’d always dreamed of flying as a child and I wanted to do something big!

Events manager for the children’s charity, Jordyn Armstrong, said:

Rachel has taken on a challenge that not many people are brave enough to do, all for the benefit of the families our services support. We are so grateful to her for her generosity and we have no doubt her nanna would be incredibly proud too.

If you would still like to make a donation, please visit Rachel’s sponsorship page at www.doitforcharity.com/rachelkirkby.
