Barnardo's Scotland Assistant Director Locality Leads

Scottish Assistant Directors:

There are 10 Assistant Directors in Scotland taking responsibility for specific areas of work.  This role involves supporting service managers across all Barnardo's Scotland services, ensuring they are delivering effective and quality services.

Lynne O'Brien

Assistant Director - West Scotland

Lynne has operational responsibility for the external management of Children’s and Young People's Services in Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and East, North and South Ayrshire. Lynne also has lead responsibility for Domestic Abuse.

Eddie Kane

Assistant Director - Greater Glasgow

Eddie has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's  and Young People's Services in Glasgow and East Dunbartonshire. Eddie is also the safeguarding lead for Scotland.

Martin Mathieson

Assistant Director - Lanarkshire

Martin has operational responsibility for the external management of a range of Children and Young People's Services in North and South Lanarkshire. Martin also has lead responsibility for Child Sexual Exploitation, which is one of our four Voluntary Fund priority areas.

Peter Nield

Assistant Director - Tayside

Peter has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and young people's Services in Tayside. Peter also has lead responsibility for Disability.

Laura Falconer

Assistant Director - Fife

Laura has operational responsibility for the external management of Children’s and Young People's  Services in Fife. Laura has lead responsibility for Family Support and Early Years. Laura is based in Kirkcaldy.

Hawys Kilday

Assistant Director - South East Scotland

Hawys has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in the east Region of Scotland, this includes West Lothian and Edinburgh.

Debbie Noble

Assistant Director - Forth Valley

Debbie has operational responsibility for the external management of a range of Children's and Young People's Services in Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire as well as Advocacy services in Dumfries and Galloway, Ayrshire and Renfrewshire. In addition, Debbie has responsibility for our national service You First young family support service, and has lead responsibility for areas of practice including Participation, Children’s Rights and Justice including services based in the community, prison-based services and children affected by imprisonment.

Siobhan Carroll

Assistant Director - Fostering and Adoption

Siobhan has responsibility for the Fostering and Adoption services across Scotland. The function of the F&A team is to recruit a range of carers to meet the needs of Scotland’s most vulnerable children and to work in partnership with Local Authorities to identify gaps in their own resources which Barnardo’s Scotland can assist in filling. Siobhan is based in Aberdeen.

Maggie Brownlie

Assistant Director - North Scotland

Maggie has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire and the Highlands. Her role also includes, ensuring high standards of practice across the region for services that include throughcare and aftercare, residential support, and mentoring.

Fiona Bennett

Assistant Director - South West Scotland

Fiona has operational responsibility for the external management of Children's and Young People's Services in Dumfries and Galloway, East, North and South Ayrshire with Service offices in Ayr, Kilmarnock and Kilwinning. Services include housing support and homelessness; family support and early intervention; youth work; domestic abuse; alcohol and drugs and Shine Women’s Mentoring Service. Fiona has contributed to the development of related policy areas, research and professional practice including early year’s workforce development; GIRFEC; child protection and child mental health.
