Domestic abuse

We know that many of the children and families we are working with may be affected by domestic abuse, often alongside other issues. Barnardo’s Scotland is therefore in the process of implementing Safe and TogetherTM, to develop a domestic abuse informed approach to child welfare across all our services.

We want to ensure that the impact of domestic abuse on children is recognised. This includes holding to account people who abuse their partners/ex-partners for also thereby harming the child(ren).

We also believe that young people, and particularly young parents, who are perpetrating abuse need access to tailored interventions to change their behaviour, as well as young people affected by domestic abuse having access to tailored support.
