See things differently

When you know there is more to their story, commission us to read between the lines. We see things differently.

Poor health can be the underlying cause of many other issues in a young person's life. Our services address the causes of health inequalities and reduce the negative effects they have upon the achievements of individuals, families and communities.

We deliver a wide range of services that tackle health inequalities. Recently in Newcastle-upon-Tyne we have provided young carers with emotional support and opportunities to have a break from their caring responsibilities. In Gateshead we have reduced teenage pregnancy and provided support for young parents, with one parent having just started at university. In Middlesbrough we have enabled young people to exit and recover from sexual exploitation. In Whitley Bay we have successfully boosted self-esteem through peer mentoring, and in Hexham we have supported teenagers leaving care.

We have national expertise across a wide range of health issues. In Manchester we have engaged with communities to protect their children from second-hand smoke, whilst in Bristol we have reduced the not-attend-rates at the NHS Foundation Trust that contributed to a saving of £4 million.

With a broad range of over 800 services across the UK helping 190,000 children, young people and their families, Barnardo’s has the expertise to provide services tailored to commissioner’s needs and to local priorities.
