Children's Activity Support - Group Vol (Plymouth PL5)

Purpose of opportunity:
To support staff in the provision of activities and learning opportunities/advice for children and young people. The volunteer will attend nursery to engage in supervised play with the children.
To support Barnardo's Staff in the running of play sessions with children aged 0-5 years

Key activities:
Support delivery of high quality play session
Engage children and their families in fun play activities to include outdoor and messy play.
Prepare snacks
Support rhyme and story time
Engage with families and signpost to other activities and services
The role may involve unsupervised contact with children and young people and therefore an enhanced DBS (criminal record) check will be required.

Attitude/skills/knowledge required:
Ability to relate to children and families
Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
Understanding of children's needs
Enthusiasm to support vulnerable children and parents
Good communication skills
Good interpersonal skills
A 'can do' attitude and willingness to help
Must be reliable
Able to commit to volunteering for at least 1 year.
