An Introduction to Safeguarding and Protecting Disabled Children and Young People
Aim
To develop knowledge, skills and awareness of issues in relation to the abuse of disabled children and young people and to promote safe and effective practices.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session learners will be able to:
- reflect on factors that create vulnerability
- understand what causes confusion about signs and indicators of abuse
- understand the role of communication
- demonstrate an awareness of the potential impact on the worker
- understand how to challenge the professional opinion of others
- utilise a frame work for reflective learning and continuing professional development
