Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Protecting Children and Young People

Aim

To raise awareness, knowledge and skills of issues associated with risky and Sexual Exploitative relationships.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session participants will be able to:

  • discuss and describe the definition of Sexual Exploitation
  • identify the reasons why children and young people become sexually exploited and show understanding of the social, economic and demographic influences
  • verbally identify the differences between positive and negative relationships
  • compare and identify how relationships are formed – how perpetrators target and how the young person sees the relationship
  • demonstrate how an assessment profile of the child or young person would be undertaken
  • discuss and practice how to use a variety of practical tools in direct work with a child or young person at risk
  • utilise a framework for reflective learning and continuing professional development
