Identifying and Monitoring Outcomes - the difference you make
The programme can be delivered as a one or two day course. The one day option covers how can practitioners assess their effectiveness, learn what works and how to improve the service they provide and demonstrate the difference they make. The two day option looks at outcomes in greater detail with the opportunity to explore issues in more depth. Targeted at senior practitioners and managers this option explores terminology, setting outcomes, evaluating performance against set outcomes, sources of information, and exploring what is the definition of ‘success’ and ‘achievement’.
Aim
To develop an understanding of the theoretical, contextual and practical issues and techniques which will enable practitioners and managers to successfully identify, deliver and monitor positive outcomes to Children, Young People and their Parents/Carers.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- describe the terminology and reasons why it is important to measure outcomes
- be able to clearly distinguish between inputs, outputs and outcomes
- use a variety of effective information gathering techniques to inform setting and measuring of outcomes
- identify key stakeholders/service users
- identify and resolve any ethical issues
- demonstrate the skills required to identify, deliver and monitor effective outcome focus planning and evaluation
- set short, middle and long term measurable outcomes for own work/service/organization
- identify further learning and development needs in this area for self and/or others
- utilise a frame work for reflective learning and continuing professional development.
