What works in…‘We are Hurting too’ - Domestic Violence
Participants must have attended a basic or foundation course prior to this course.
A two day course building on the knowledge gained in the basic course, this advanced level training aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge required to deliver appropriate services for children, young people experiencing Domestic Abuse. It will introduce workers to a Good Practice Guidelines Booklet, and a Tool Kit. It will provide opportunities for participants to practice the group work skills required in order to deliver the Tool Kit.
Aim
This course will provide practitioners with some of the necessary skills knowledge, materials and abilities to work directly with children and young people who have / are experiencing Domestic Abuse
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- understand and describe the organisation’s ethos that underpins its strategy and policy with regards to Domestic Violence
- demonstrate a good working knowledge of the ‘Good Practice Guidelines’
- understand how the ‘tool kit’ works and be able to use the tools identified
- demonstrate the group work skills required in order to use the tool kit with children and Young people
- utilise a frame work for reflective learning and continuing professional development.
