What works in…Positive Behaviour Management and Conflict Resolution
2 day course for residential staff
Aim
- To develop knowledge, skills and confidence in dealing with children and young people’s challenging behaviour, whilst empowering them to manage their own behaviour effectively.
- To gather personally relevant insights into ‘what makes themselves and others tick’ and associated triggers.
- To develop concepts and practices that utilise these insights to support others through conflict resolution.
- To gain an understanding of how power and rank can be used positively.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- discuss and describe aspects of behaviour management interventions
- identify and describe own preferred style of intervention
- identify the emotional implications that a crisis situation has on the worker and be able access appropriate support mechanisms
- discuss, demonstrate and implement appropriate behaviour management techniques
- understand and consider a theoretical framework of how people interact, and how to apply this understanding in direct work with Children and Young People
- provide a frame work for reflective learning for children and young people
- use a variety of tools and strategies to support and improve ability to manage conflict
- enable others to develop personal strategies that can facilitate change
- utilise a frame work for own reflective learning and continuing professional development.
