An Introduction to Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Young People
Aim
To develop knowledge, skills and awareness of issues in relation to the abuse of children and young people and to promote safe and effective practices.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- describe legislation appertaining to Safeguarding and Protection
- discuss possible signs and indicators of abuse and the possible impact on children/young people
- list the emotional impact this work has on you as a worker
- discuss why children and young people don’t tell when they are experiencing abuse
- demonstrate how to challenge the professional opinion of others
- utilise a frame work for reflective learning and continuing professional development.
