Stay OK an animated film about children who had survived sexual abuse, created by young people of Barnardo’s Polepark Family Centre, Dundee. It can be used by those working with children including teachers, child care workers, social workers and parents/carers as a direct tool to help educate and support children around the issues of keeping safe in terms of their bodies and touching.
In addition, it can be used as a training tool for children’s workers in a variety of settings. It is also an educational tool to help children develop safety strategies and also as a therapeutic tool for children who have experienced sexual abuse.
Nae Danger a DVD about fighting child exploitation developed by Barnardo’s FACE project and led by young people who designed, animated and wrote the script and training materials. Aiming for High is a resource pack developed by Barnardo’s collaborating with young people moving from primary to secondary school. It is a critical transition point in a young person’s development. If this transition is managed effectively, the outcomes are likely to lead to better exam results, less absenteeism, higher self esteem and a more positive attitude towards school.
This resource pack contains a variety of card games, worksheets, activities and a DVD called ‘Moving On.’ The pack includes hard copy of everything you will need and also a CDROM with all activities and worksheets ready to print.
The resource also includes further information and useful websites. This resource addresses the issues and worries that effect young people going through this transition in an interactive fun way.
