Barnardo's The TAP Project

The Tap is part of Barnardo’s North West homelessness project and it is run in partnership with The Regenda Group and The Rachel House Trust.
Sadly, there are thousands of people in Britain each year who become or who are made homeless. From March 2008 until March 2009, 238 people in the Metropolitan Borough of Bury presented themselves to the homelessness section at Bury’s Town Hall. Of these people, 47 of them were aged between 16-21 years old.
In order to combat the problems facing young people who find themselves homeless, the TAP was opened. Between March 2008 and March 2009, the TAP housed 16 young people. The TAP project is open to both males and females aged 16-21 and provides five bed spaces. The project provides short term accommodation only. During this time we aim to find young people more secure accommodation and also offer them help and support in all areas of life.
In most cases, the young people who have lived at the TAP have either been street homeless or have moved from one place to another sofa surfing either at friends or family and are often unsure of where they will be sleeping next.
