What we do

The Barnardo's Hive Project aims to help improve people’s lives by using a community development approach which begins from the basic approach of listening and valuing the thoughts of people who belong to the Coalfield Community. It is important that the people who belong to this community are consulted about what they think are the problems, how they think a resolution can be reached and furthermore, that they are involved in working with those who have the knowledge and resources that can help solve the problem.

The Hive sees participation as a key factor in helping people living on the estate make a contribution to decisions affecting their lives. This involves working with people in ways that encourage and empower them to do things for themselves. At The Hive you can be as involved as you want, we don’t put any pressure on people; you decide how you want to make a contribution. If you’d like to get involved please contact us.
