What we do
Open services
We run open services for parents and children on a weekly basis which provides an informal setting for parents to meet each other and to gain support, advice and friendship.
A crèche is provided for the children and trips out are often organised during the school holiday period. We offer bathroom, kitchen and laundry facilities and we also keep a stock of good quality second hand clothes.
Focused services
Our group work programme includes workshop sessions for both children and parents. These provide an opportunity for service users to meet and discuss specific topics such as bereavement or divorce.
Groupwork programmes also run for children and parents and enable them to share experiences and find ways to address some of the difficulties which can arise during such periods. Specific groups are run for children who may have experienced abuse and for those who care for them. If you would like to find out about some of our group services please contact us.
Intensive services
We work with a number of families on a more direct level, this might involve sessions with parents, individual children or with parents and children together. We use the goodman’s strengths and difficulties questionnaires which have been evaluated by the Department of Health. This is used as a way of helping families identify needs as well as measure change and progress. We accept some self-referrals as well as referrals from professionals. We do try to keep the waiting list to a minimum by making our work focused and targeted.
We also host a number of workshops which deal with a variety of issues, such as self-esteem, bereavement and domestic violence.
