What we do

The aim of Barnardo's Supported Lodgings is to provide young people with a safe place to live while they develop the independent living skills they need in order to live in their own accommodation and maintain a tenancy. Young people are expected to be in, or willing to engage in education, training or employment.
While in Barnardo's Supported Lodgings young people will receive:
- their own support worker
- support with developing their day to day living skills including budgeting, cooking and laundry
- support to engage in education or training
- support to access advice and support from outside agencies
- support to access move on accommodation.
Who are lodging providers?
- people who have been Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) checked and who have been approved by an independent panel
- they may be a couple or a single person in a house, flat or bungalow
- they have a spare room in their home
- they are committed to equality of opportunity for all young people
- they are willing to share their home
- they enjoy the company of young people
- they have a sense of humour
- they are paid an accommodation and support fee while a young person lives with them.
