HIV Work

Streetlevel has been offering support since 1989 to people in South Tyneside living with HIV, their partners, families and carers. Information and advice is provided to anyone concerned about HIV. Services offered include information and advice, assessment of needs, one-to-one support and assistance in accessing other services.

Internet café

We have internet café facilities staffed by volunteers who can help you to find your way around the internet. You decide where you want to go, the volunteers will ‘steer’ you if you need help. So, if you have a query we can help you find the information you need. You can ‘chat’ about anything with people who have the same interests – anywhere in the world. You can also learn how to use a computer. Our experienced volunteers can help anyone, from the computer illiterate to the keyboard wizard.

Streetlevel users’ involvement

Streetlevel have always been very strong on listening to service users’ views. This is reflected in our woman’s only afternoon and the development of the internet café.

The planned development of a men only group has also come from views of our service users. A service user group has recently started within the project.
