Q. Can I come to the woman’s group?
A. There is a referral system. This can be discussed with a worker when you come for your first appointment.
Q. How can I be referred to Barnardo’s Streetlevel project and what happens at the first appointment?
A. You can just come in, phone and say you want to talk to someone or you can be referred by another agency. Your first appointment is just like a long chat where the worker asks a variety of questions and tells you what Streetlevel has to offer. Its at this time that the assessment starts and it’s also when it’s decided if Streetlevel is the right agency to help you or whether another agency can help you better.
Q. I’m not using drugs, but a member of my family is, can I still come to Streetlevel?
A. Yes, we work with people who are affected by illicit drug use. That can mean anyone connected to you; a family member or even a friend.
Q. What do you mean by ‘illicit’?
A. By illicit we mean any illegal drug. For example cannabis, speed [amphetamine], cocaine, heroin, ecstasy, in fact any drug that it is illegal to possess.
Q. How can I find out more about what you do?
A. If you can’t find what you need in these pages then maybe it would be a good idea to call and speak to the duty worker who will be able to give you more specific information and answer some of your questions. There is a duty worker available every day to take your call.
Q. I’m not on benefits, how much will I have to pay for the services I access?
A. Nothing, all our services are free whether you are on benefits or are working; that includes our acupuncture service.
