Enjoying and achieving

All pupils at Spring Hill School have a statement of special educational need. The curriculum is organised and delivered to ensure that pupils are taught at a level appropriate to both their individual needs and their age.
A wide range of accredited courses
The school offers a wide range of accredited courses for all pupils regardless of level of ability.
We have excellent links with local colleges and other schools which enables us to extend the breadth of what we have to offer. We provide:
- pre entry level courses
- vocational courses
- entry level courses
- limited GCSE courses.
We celebrate the achievement of all our students and all leave school with some accreditation.
Extra-curricular activities
The curriculum is enhanced and supported by a diverse range of activities. These activities include:
- a variety of sporting activities and competitions
- fortnightly visits to the local outdoor pursuits centre
- residential activity holidays.
As well as visiting many places outside of school, we invite visitors into the school. Recently students have taken part in a graffiti workshop, an African drumming session and enjoyed a visit from Guide Dogs for the Blind. Within the residential setting many activities are offered, some on a group basis and others on an individual basis.
Young people are also encouraged to develop the skills to organise their own leisure activities. Activities include such things as swimming, cinema visits and theatre visits. Some pupils have become involved in sea cadets, St Johns Ambulance and theatre groups.
Teaching and learning are good. Teachers are enthusiastic and transmit this to the pupils. Teachers use a good range of imaginative strategies and a variety of tasks, including good use of ICT, to capture and retain pupils' interest in the lessons. Ofsted report 2009
