What We Do

Our activities involve working with a wide range of children and young people, as well as professionals.
Although based in Ryde High School, we also work with children and young people within the community of Ryde, build links with other existing and new communityand voluntary groups, and provide services to those who are most in need.
Our activities are wide-ranging and include classroom programmes, after-school clubs, holiday clubs, and special health education events and training for professionals.
What do we do at Ryde High School?
During a typical school year, we will –
- organise three 10-week health education modules at Ryde High School, supporting teaching and non-teaching staff, and students
- train 70 teaching staff - specifically around health issues.
- co-deliver 20 support sessions to students with emotional difficulties.
- continue conducting health-related research and acting as consultants on issues such as diet, exercise and nutrition.
What community-based activities and groups do we run?
- healthy eating and living sessions to children aged 6+ living in the Ryde area.
- Cool Time Club fun club for children aged 6+ living in the Ryde area based at The Barry Lawrence Centre in Preston Close.
- healthy summer holiday clubs based around sports and environment activities.
- Healthy Food Week for children living in the St. John’s area of Ryde.
We also support Ryde Youth Forum. Ryde Youth Forum organises successful youth events for young people living in Ryde and promotes youth participation in decision-making and event-planning.
Many of our activities are free to children and young people. We are always trying to find ways of keeping costs down for parents.
Have we got you interested?
If you or your son or daughter would like to take part in any of our community-based activities, please contact us during office hours (9am to 5pm) and we will give you some more details about when and where our activities are running.
As a new service, we are continually seeking to find new ways of working with young people and involving them in our work.
Volunteer with us, and see them smile…
We have a small group of helpful volunteers who assist us with some of our youth activities. If would like to join this group and volunteer some of your time, please get in touch with us.
We particularly welcome applications from people who have an interest in sport, therapeutic arts and crafts, music and cookery.
