Consultancy

The project offers consultancy to social work staff, carers and other professionals on the subject of child sexual abuse. This can be about work with a particular young person or about general sexual abuse issues.
Consultancy can be used to assist people clarify issues, support them in their work with young people and help to identify possible areas of future work or development. The number of sessions offered is negotiable and based on need.
Resource Bank
Skylight has a resource bank which is well stocked with practice material, books, journals, audio and video tapes and games, relating to understanding and working with young people who have experienced sexual abuse. To use the resource bank please phone the Project to arrange an appointment.
Training
Skylight provides a range of training to social work staff and carers in the field of child sexual abuse and child protection.
Workshops include:
- understanding the effects of sexual abuse
- caring for children and young people who have been sexually abused
- direct work with children and young people
- the impact of child abuse on child development
- caring for disabled children and young people who have experienced sexual abuse
- the project also devises packages of training to meet the stated needs of groups of staff and carers.
