School building

Spring Hill is set within a picturesque 30-acre site with plenty of surrounding greenery. The school itself is a campus of modern buildings, built around 3 residential units. Most of pupils are residential but we also cater for day pupils at the school.

Each young person is part of a ‘cottage group’ that includes teaching and residential support staff who work together in the best interests of the young people. Each young person is allocated a specific member of residential staff as a ‘key worker’, in addition to their teacher, who is responsible for his/her welfare and development. These relationships are developed in an open and trusting way to ensure the highest standard of child care practice.

Details of Spring Hill's residential placements on a 38 week basis and 52 week basis:

38 week provision – currently catered for with 3 houses
Oak Trees house accommodates 7 pupils in the main unit and 3 pupils in a flatlet, Cedars house accommodates 10, and Beeches house accommodates 7.
52 week provision – we currently have 2 houses which cater for 3 young people in each and a flat which houses 2. The school also has a bungalow which accommodates 2 young people.
All pupils have their own bedrooms.
‘Well-established routines and good relationships with care staff ensure that pupils are well cared for, are happy and that the residential provision makes a good contribution to the work of the school.’ Ofsted report, 2006

Children and parents or carers are encouraged to keep in contact whilst the young person is in residence at Spring Hill.

We have recently developed our information technology resources. There is a main computer suite, as well as a number of machines in individual classrooms. We also have interactive whiteboards in all classrooms.
