Education

We aim to provide a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum for all our pupils. We pride ourselves on providing pupils with an individually tailored education, appropriate to their needs. Our aim is to give all the young people at Spring Hill the opportunity to fulfill their true potential.

Each child has a unique Statement of Special Educational Needs, which together with advice and recommendations from the Local Educational Authority (LEA) provide the framework for each child’s curricular needs.

The school day is split into 5 sessions. At the end of each day reward activity sessions are run which are linked into the school’s behaviour reward system.

Key Stages 2-4 (7-16 years)
The emphasis at ages 7-16 is placed on developing pupils’ social interaction and their academic skills and abilities. Individual education plans ensure that each young person maximises their potential.

Post-16 education
We work with pupils to prepare them for the next stage of their lives and the move to residential college or independent living. There are many opportunities for pupils to gain accreditation in vocational skills, and also complete work experience placements that help to reinforce their learning as well as establish a work ethic.

Academic achievements
Here you will find recent results of the academic achievements of Spring Hill pupils.

Personal and social development
Spring Hill has a ‘Personal and Social Skills’ curriculum which runs alongside the National Curriculum. It aims to develop pupils’ independence and covers subjects such behaviour management, communication and independence skills.

Careers preparation
All pupils receive careers guidance and we work closely with Connexions to ensure that each person leaving the school has a clear plan for the future. This is a major part of the education programme for those pupils who stay at Spring Hill post-16.

Sports and health
Sport is covered both as part of the National Curriculum and during leisure time in evenings and at weekends.
