
Admission and referral process:
- Referral documentation is forwarded to the school by the relevant sponsoring authority;
- Referral panel decides whether further information is required or whether an assessment placement can be offered with the available information;
- Parents and the young person are invited to a formal interview and visit to the school;
- If all the people involved wish to pursue a placement at Meadows School, a "partnership meeting" is arranged at the beginning of the six week assessment placement; and
- A "placement meeting" is arranged at the end of assessment period to plan the social and educational targets or outcomes of future education at the school.
Admission to Meadows can be made at any time of the year, depending on:
- availability of space;
- statement of Special Educational Needs stating emotional, behavioural and/or social difficulties;
- support of referring local education authority and / or social service department;
- active parent or carer support and participation;
- effective and efficient use of resources;
- a belief that the school can meet the needs of the young person; and
- the pupil stating he or she wishes to attend Meadows.
