Salford Childrens Rights Service

Salford Children’s Rights Service - [SCRS]

This service provides:

Advocacy and participation

Advocacy and participation : Supporting the right of a looked after child to be heard and involved in decisions through 1:1 support and independent visitors.

Independent visitors

Independent visitors: Providing access to an independent supporting adult in situations where the young person may have little or no positive contact with members of their own family.

Salford Children’s Rights Service (SCRS) supports children and young people looked after by Salford City Council or those leaving care. We are not part of the Council or its Children’s Services department.

We will:

  • Help children/young people have a say about things that affects them
  • Help find them an independent visitor - someone to spend time with who is there just for them
  • Help them make positive changes for all young people in care and leaving care
  • Train children/young people in care and leaving care so that they can take part in the training and recruitment of professionals eg, social workers
