Children's artwork
Barnardo’s offers a range of techniques such as play and art therapy to help children articulate their complex feelings and experiences.
Sarah came to Barnardo’s when she was 15.
After a year of intensive support Sarah created this piece of artwork illustrating her journey through understanding what happened to her. She is now looking to her future with hope.

Lucy, who visits our project, used poetry to express herself. In this one she describes her feelings for Barnardo’s.
‘Thank-You’ - Lucy, 16
Winter its solace, was the day you came and left
To offer me comfort and hope and all things best
Spring time its sparkle, you gave me hope to smile
To offer me laughter for just a little while
Summer its warmness, you embrace me with such care
Autumn its riches of colours and warmth, that holds you tight
To help me understand that there are no “Goodnights”
So thank you Barnardo’s for the work that you have done
To let me understand just this:
I’m not the only one
