How we can help

Barnardo's Ravensdale Project aims to help young children thrive and be happy through play and learning. Our services are for:
- children with severe learning difficulties or profound multiple difficulties
- children who are disabled or with a serious medical condition, or physical/sensory difficulties where assessment is required
- children who are presenting signs of global developmental delay
- children with autistic spectrum disorders
- children who are subject to a Child Protection Plan and who are deemed 'at risk'
- children who have a sibling on the autistic spectrum
In all our services we aim to work closely with parents/carers, while also encouraging strong participation from the children.
Referrals are made to Ravensdale by health visitors, doctors, social services and education services. Talk to one of these professionals or the Centre if you are concerned about your child/family and think they need or would benefit from our services.
Once your child has been offered a place they will be able to access:
- a wide variety of creative, educational and play resources at the centre
- toy library and computer programmes
- a safe and accessible environment
- consistent, positive and challenging adult support
- healthy snack and tea provision (during term-time)
- music and movement
- speech therapy
- individual educational plans and multi agency reviews where appropriate
- information and help for parents and families
- outings and special events and visits
- softplay room, multi-sensory room and a well equipped outdoor play area
- support through the Statutory Assessment process
