Polepark Family Service

Polepark Family Service offers support to children and families affected by abuse and neglect. Children and young people have a right to be protected from harm. They need a safe, secure and caring environment if they are to grow up healthy and happy. Coping with the impact of abuse is not easy and they might need support to overcome difficulties they might experience in day to day life.

Polepark works in partnership with Dundee City Council Social Work Department who refer children aged 18 and under and their families to the service. We work with children, young people and their families, building on their strengths and developing safety plans to seek the best possible outcomes for children.

Our objectives are:

  • To enable children to receive safe care, where possible within their own families and communities.
  • To work in partnership with carers and professionals from Dundee City Council to promote safe caring.
  • To empower children, communicate effectively with them and allow their voices to be heard.
  • To support children and non-abusing carers to overcome the trauma of abuse.
  • To provide positive outcomes for children whether within their own family or being looked after away from home.
