Frequently asked questions

Q. Who should come to the centre?
A. The initial meeting is usually with the adults in the family and sometimes the referrer. It is agreed at this meeting who needs to attend.
Q. How often do I need to come and for how long?
A. We see families weekly, fortnightly, or monthly, depending on individual circumstances. We have a review after the first six sessions where it is decided if the work needs to continue. The length of time families attend the centre depends on the circumstances of each family.
Q. What happens to the information we share with the centre?
A. All work we do within the centre is recorded and kept on files which are stored on computer. Families have the right to look at those records except for any confidential information we receive from outside Barnardo’s. We work within the Data Protection Act.
