How we can help

We can help in a variety of ways depending on the individual needs of parents/carers

For example we can:

1. provide telephone advice/information on:

  • special needs provision in schools
  • the Statutory Assessment process
  • statements
  • annual reviews
  • transitions
  • exclusions
  • transport
  • specialist provision/support services
  • appeals to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal (SENDIST)
  • disagreement resolution services
  • local policies
  • SEN Code of Practice

2. Attend meetings in support of parents and carers to discuss concerns and review progress.

3. Accompany parents and carers on visits to alternative educational settings.

4. Liaise with schools, Local Education Authority and other agencies to promote positive relationships with parents and carers.

5. Help with letter writing, parental contributions

6. Help to explain the content of reports, correspondence and IEPs

7. Signpost to other sources of support eg. voluntary organisations, parent groups

8. Encourage parents, carers and schools to involve children in their educational needs and provision.
