Advice on changing schools - from primary to secondary

Transferring to secondary school is an important time in every child’s life. When children start year 6, they will be given an application form and a guide for parents booklet about secondary schools from the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council (CBMDC) to take home with them.

The booklet gives information about the application process, the schools in the Bradford District and the different rules that the local authority and schools use to decide who to give places to.

The whole process can be quite complicated and to help families with this, the government has provided funds for ‘choice advice’. In Bradford, this service is provided by Barnardo’s Parent Partnership Service. The choice advisor offers free, impartial help and support to parents at this time.
