Frequently asked questions
Q. What is PACT?
A. PACT offers 24 hour support, supervision and accommodation to six young women and their children in their own self-contained flats.
During your stay in PACT you will be assessed and supported with your parenting skills.
Q. How do I make a referral to PACT?
A. Initially, referrals are made by telephone by the referring Social Worker and the details of the referral are discussed with a senior member of PACT staff. At this stage it is agreed as to whether a referral is appropriate.
Referring Social Workers and potential service users are asked to complete a comprehensive referral form which outlines the case details. This also gives the potential Service User the opportunity to express how they feel about coming to PACT and what they hope to achieve during the course of the placement.
Q. As a future resident of PACT how will I be assessed?
A. When you first move in, staff will work very closely with you, particularly around meal and bath times. We usually ask that you are not out for more than two hours at a time at first, so that we can get to know you and see how you are managing. This will be reviewed after a couple of weeks but staff will still see you at least every two hours during the day unless you are not in the unit.

Q. What about my partner?
A. We do not have partners resident in PACT. However if your partner is or will be involved in looking after your baby we can work with you as a family. The times for this will be agreed with you, your partner and your social worker.
Q. What does my Keyworker do?
A. Your keyworker will meet with you and your social worker, usually before you move into PACT, to agree on areas of work. This might be things like:
- work on how to look after a baby
- work on preparing you to look after your own house
- work on any problems you may have
Q. Can I read the written information about me and my child?
A. Yes, we operate an open access policy, which means you can read and comment on anything we write about you. As part of preparing the weekly summary you will get a copy of your daybook to read and comment on. If you want to keep a copy of this just ask your keyworker.
The only time we would not share information with you is if it came from a third party and they had not given permission for us to pass it on to you.
