Stability and security for fostered and adopted children

Release Date: 18 Sep 2012

In response to today’s announcement regarding the Government’s fostering and adoption consultation, Janet Grauberg, UK Director of Strategy for Barnardo’s says:

As an adoption and fostering agency Barnardo’s agrees it makes absolute sense to allow children to be placed in a foster placement with potential adoptive parents.

Children can often be moved from one emergency foster placement to another during the wait for an adoption order to be made or while the prospective adoptive parents wait to be approved.

Anything that prevents these vulnerable children being passed from pillar to post and instead offers them the chance of stability and security is of upmost importance.

Notes to Editors

Barnardo’s works with more than 190,000 children, young people and their families each year. Barnardo’s now runs more than 800 services across the UK.

We believe in the potential of every child and young person, no matter who they are, what they have done or what they have been through. We will support them, stand up for them and bring out the best in each and every child. Every year we help thousands of children turn their lives around. But we cannot do it without you.
