Cumbria Down's Syndrome Support Group at the University of Cumbria

Do you have a child with Down’s Syndrome 11 years or under?

Cecilie Mackinnon, training officer with the Down’s Syndrome Association, is coming to Cumbria to share with families her wealth of knowledge and experience.

The training includes the following topics:

  • Understanding Language and communication profile of individuals with Down’s Syndrome
  • Developing age appropriate behaviour, supporting independence and facilitating friendships
  • Using Numicon in primary school to develop numeracy and maths skills for children with Down’s syndrome
  • Accessing the primary school curriculum.

Registration Details

Allocation of places:

Priority will be given to the 2 main carers of Down’s Syndrome children 11 years and under (limited crèche places available), their Learning Support Assistant or Key Worker.

Other family members and Early Years professionals are welcome to apply and may be accommodated if places allow.

Family booking: £15.00 (refundable on attendance)
