On Tuesday 27 April 2010 Martin Narey, Chief Executive, chaired the Children’s Debate between:

  • Ed Balls, Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families
  • David Willetts, Shadow Cabinet Minister for Universities and Skills, with special responsibility for family policy
  • David Laws, Liberal Democrats Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families

More than a hundred people attended the debate which focused on disadvantaged children and families – the types of families that Barnardo’s supports through our work.

The audience quizzed the politicians on a wide range of areas, including: children in care; poverty and social mobility; early years education; and youth justice issues.
