Richard Hammond visits Sunshine Children's Centre

Richard Hammond

TV presenter Richard Hammond visited the newly refurbished Sunshine Children’s Centre at Bluebell Close in Malvern. The centre has recently undergone a major make over, as well as having additional services housed at the facility.

Father of two Richard who presents the popular TV show Top Gear, was keen to meet families who use the centre and in particular encourage more Dads in the area to visit and get involved in activities.

Whilst at the celebration event, Richard judged a special fancy dress competition being held in his honour. The children modelled costumes that they made themselves based on a car theme. He also spend a lot of time talking to the dads who use the centre.

The centre provides a wide range of activities and support services for families with pre school aged children 0-5 years. Although the service has been running for two years, the refurbishment has transformed a former school into a purpose designed centre with health room, sensory room, midwifery area, redecorated playroom and garden, as well as outside play houses. Additional services now based at the centre include the Brighter Futures Nursery, Malvern Special Families a support service for disabled children and Worcestershire County Council children’s services.
