Barnardo's meaningful Mother's Day gifts

Many ditched the usual bank-busting blooms and calorific chocolates and bought their mums the perfect Real Gift from Barnardo’s this Mother’s Day.

At the same time as treating their mums to a thoughtful and inspired gift they helped to support the work that Barnardo’s does with thousands of vulnerable and disadvantaged children each year.

The gifts, starting from as little as £10, included therapy sessions for children who have suffered abuse, adventure days for children with disabilities, multi-sensory equipment for autistic children and essentials for young people leaving care.

As actress Tamzin Outhwaite explains,

I tried to think of something a bit different to give for Mother’s Day, especially as my mum seems to have everything. Barnardo’s has a range of more than 20 Real Gifts with prices ranging from £10 to £150. £10 buys a night light for a child who has been a victim of domestic violence. Personally, I couldn’t think of a better present.

Not just for Mother’s Day, gifts come in a stylish card with your personalised message, a thank you from one of the many children helped because of gifts like yours and a fun magnet keepsake as a reminder of the belief in children that your Real Gift represents.

As Harpreet Kondel, Assistant Director of Fundraising at Barnardo’s says,

Our simple and user-friendly website means all gifts can be purchased easily and conveniently, taking the stress out of meaningful gift buying.

Such a varied collection of gifts is also what makes this such a special initiative; for example £35 can help buy outdoor toys for children of homeless families living in temporary accommodation, helping them to enjoy playtime in a safe and secure environment.
