CBeebies presenter Sidney Sloane hosted Barnardo's choir competition at the end of March. Over 600 children from 23 schools from around the UK made it to the final round of the competition, performing in front of the judges at the Royal Festival Hall.

Special congratulations to St Mary's School from Colchester who came first in the Under 12 age group, and Tonbridge Grammar School who claimed the title for the Under 18's. This was Barnardo's first ever national choir competition. After proving such a success we intend to make it an annual event.

Impressed with all the choirs, Sidney said:

The competition was fantastic! Even though there were only two winners all of the choirs should be proud of themselves - not only did they put on a brilliant show, they helped raise tremendous funds to support Barnardo's work with disadvantaged children.
