Mutya backs Barnardo’s poverty campaign film

Mutya Buena is backing Barnardo’s in its bid to end child poverty. The singer and Celebrity Big Brother star has joined Barnardo's in pushing the Prime Minister to put an end to suffering of youngsters throughout the UK.
There are currently 3.9 million children in poverty across Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales – that’s one in three. Barnardo’s is increasing pressure on the Government to end child poverty in the run-up to April’s Budget. As part of the push Barnardo's has been asking the public, politicians and celebrities across the country to take a seat on its special sofa and say why they agree as part of a short film.
Mother of three-year-old Tahlia-Maya, Mutya said:
The idea that there are children suffering needlessly here, in the UK, is heartbreaking. If I were Prime Minster, and I was faced with the choice of allowing the most innocent members of our society to carry on struggling or invest £3 billion to stop it, I would have not hesitate to spend that money. I can only hope that our Government has enough compassion to do what is right and listen to Barnardo’s.
Other celebrities who are joining the debate are Chris Parker, Julie Wilson Nimmo and Brian Belo.
