Top assignment for model Laura Bailey

Model and writer Laura Bailey embarked on a top assignment this month when she visited two Barnardo’s projects in London.

Mother of two Laura, is an ambassador for Barnardo’s, and yesterday she saw first hand how the charity works to build better futures for children and young people in South East London.

First, she visited the Heshima project which provides support to children and families, and then met with young people at the Windermere Construction Skills Centre next door, an alternative education project run by Barnardo’s in the boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Southwark, Sutton, Greenwich and Bromley.

Laura says:

Barnardo’s has a wonderful track record in helping young people make the most of their potential whatever their background or circumstances. It was great to hear first hand from the parents and children at Heshima about the opportunities Barnardo’s has given them. I found it particularly interesting to learn more about the alternative education project. With the recession, many young people are not in education, work, employment or training. Alternative education projects can help young people gain the skills and qualifications they need to gain a foothold in the jobs market.
