Helen Mirren visits Barnardo’s youngsters
Barnardo’s supporter and actress Dame Helen Mirren visited children at a Barnardo’s training centre in London last week.
Helen said:
When I visited Barnardo’s, I met great young people who chatted to me about their achievements. You could tell they had pride in their new skills and a sense of teamwork and community. The tutors are the real thing - professionals who are able to share their experience with these young people, who will go on to make a contribution to the all important area of building and maintenance.
Barnardo’s has skills centres throughout the UK, working alongside local authorities and schools to engage children who have been expelled from school.
The centres offer training and industry-recognised accredited qualifications in a range of skills; including painting and decorating, carpentry, plumbing, hair and beauty and catering.
