Celebrity City Traders are bang on the money for Barnardo's

An array of Barnardo’s celebrity supporters including model Laura Bailey and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Jason Flemyng swapped show business for big business as they took to the trading floor and shouted ‘Sell sell sell!’
Celebrity supporters of the children’s charity including Lord of the Rings actor Andy Serkis and TV star Nina Wadia descended onto one of London’s busiest trading floors and donned their corporate hats to help traders make big bucks for Barnardo’s.
Since the World Trade Centre attacks in 2001, London city traders BGC have held an annual charity day at their Canary Wharf offices on September 11th in memory of their New York colleagues who died. Their world-wide profits from the day are donated to charity and for the third successive year Barnardo’s has been chosen as one of the beneficiaries.
To give the BGC traders a morale boost, we sent down some of our famous supporters to enter the adrenaline fuelled lair and try their luck on the phones. Stars including Helen McCrory of Harry Potter and The Queen fame, mingled and chatted to the BGC employees and took part in the day’s commotion as pseudo-traders!
Profits donated to Barnardo’s from today’s trading will be used to support the charity’s work with young people struggling to get into education, employment or training (NEET’s). One such project is Barnardo’s Hub Construction Skills Centre, in Tower Hamlets - a stone’s throw from BGC’s trading floors.
