Walk on the Wild Side

Barnardo's celebrity supporters have been joining thousands of mums, dads and tots across the country to take part in Barnardo’s Big Toddle, the UK’s number one fundraising event for under-fives that last year saw more than half a million Toddlers taking part.
Actress and celebrity mum Natalie Cassidy and baby daughter Eliza joined hundreds of toddlers for the safari themed launch event at Battersea Park Children's Zoo on May 10th. Natalie said:
“This year’s Barnardo’s Big Toddle is set to be the wildest, brightest and biggest yet with children encouraged to dress up as their favourite safari animals. Eliza has already got her outfit sorted but has made me promise to keep it a surprise!”
Singer of R&B band Damage Jade Jones also hopes to Toddle this year with three-year-old son Beau. Jade says:
“As a dad myself, I know kids love the whole Toddle experience – getting sponsored by family and friends, doing the walk in fancy dress, getting a medal at the end... It’s a brilliant event and a great way to teach youngsters that there are other children out there who need our help.”
Funds raised at Barnardo's Big Toddle will support vital services provided by the UK’s largest children’s charity. These include projects for children with physical and learning disabilities, autism and behavioural problems.
Here are a few simple ways that parents can get their pre-schoolers Toddling:
· Encourage your local pre-school, playgroup or nursery to host a Big Toddle event
· Take part in a Barnardo’s organised event – these take place across the UK throughout the summer months. You can find your local event by looking here.
· Host your own Toddle with friends and family - at a park or even in the back garden! For more information on how to do this click here.
