NSPCC’s Emily Cherry to join Barnardo’s as Assistant Director of Policy and Public Affairs

Barnardo’s is delighted to announce the appointment of Emily Cherry as Assistant Director, Policy and Public Affairs.

Emily is currently Head of Participation at NSPCC and was previously Policy, Practice and Participation Manager at the Children’s Society. She is a well-known and widely respected voice within the children’s sector, speaking passionately on policy issues that support children and young people.

She has an extensive track record of influencing decision makers and stakeholders through panels, roundtables, campaigns and working with the national media. Emily joins as the UK’s leading children’s charity works to deliver its ambitious and innovative ten year corporate strategy.

Barnardo’s Strategy and Performance Director, Adam Pemberton, said:

We are thrilled that Emily is joining Barnardo’s. She brings a considerable wealth of knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm to the charity which helps to transform the lives of thousands of the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people every year.

I look forward to building on its recent successes such as the forthcoming introduction of compulsory relationships and sex education lessons in English schools.

Emily will start her role on Tuesday 28 November.
