“This is why I was so delighted to be asked to be Barnardo’s first international ambassador.

“I look forward to supporting the charity’s work so it can continue to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.”

Barnardo’s Chief Executive, Javed Khan, said: “I am delighted Salman has agreed to come on board as our first international ambassador.

“Showing just what can be achieved with hard work, he has risen to the top of the Bollywood box office in his acting career, as well as being a producer, television personality, singer and philanthropist.

“His worldwide profile will help us increase awareness of Barnardo's so we can help even more children and families to build a better future.”
