One of Britain’s best loved actresses Michelle Collins was full of praise for pupils at Barnardo’s High Close School at their annual prize giving ceremony on Friday.

The former EastEnders star and Barnardo’s Ambassador presented awards to students at the Wokingham School, which caters for pupils with Special Educational Needs.

She said:

As a mother I fully support Barnardo’s invaluable work with the UK’s most vulnerable children and young people. Without the charity’s help, I can’t imagine what some young lives would be like.

I was delighted and honoured to be asked to congratulate the children of High Close School, who have achieved so much this academic year and since they’ve been here. The work High Close School staff and the students do together to create positive futures for the young people is absolutely fantastic. It’s clear to see why the school has consistently received such high praise from Ofsted.

Zoe Lattimer, principal, said:

Our end-of-term prize giving ceremony is always a great way to end the school year and a real celebration of our pupils’ hard work over the past twelve months.

It’s always a great day but made We were very pleased that Michelle attended, the pupils were very much looking forward to meeting her, especially since she’s a famous actress – it made them feel extra proud of their achievements.

Ms Collins presented prizes for academic and extra-curricular activities on July 17th.
